April 27, 2016
The Badger baseball team improved their IML record to 6-0 and 16-2 overall with a 9-1 win over the Priest River Spartans yesterday.

BONNERS FERRY 9, PRIEST RIVER 1
Senior Caleb Blackmore pitched a complete game four hitter for his first win of the season as the injury riddled Badgers beat Priest River 9-1.

With two Badger starters (Brady Bateman and Jesse Dunham) injured, the bench stepped up to provide Blackmore with the defense needed to secure the win. Freshman Seth Bateman, nursing a groin injury as well, played exceptionally at third, making diving stops and ending the game on a double play with his glove. “The entire team stepped up today with the injury to several of our guys. I couldn’t be more proud of the effort they displayed coming up with the win,” Coach Turpin said.

The Badgers started the scoring off in the first inning after Blackmore walked and Vince Bennett singled to left center. Caleb Gering scored Blackmore from third on a fielder’s choice. Bonners Ferry added another run on the second inning after Kevin Gray started off with a single, and Chris Sabin hit a double down the left field line scoring Gray.

Priest River narrowed the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth with a two out single from Nate Pettit and a RBI double from Hartwig. Bonners Ferry added two runs in the fifth inning when Raul Rodriguez reached base on an error and later scored on a RBI single from Bennett. Blackmore reached on another error and scored on a RBI single from Nick Sabin. Bonners Ferry put the game away in the top half of the sixth scoring 5 runs on one hit, two walks, a hit batter and two errors.
