Badger girls lose first District Tournament game

Basketball's year-end District Tournament is where teams earn the right to go to the Idaho State Basketball Tournament.

In this year's Tournament, the BFHS Girls' Varsity team opened District competition with a game against Priest River. During the regular season, these two teams split, with each team defeating the other once.

The Badgers / Spartans game was on Monday, February 9. Priest River jumped out to a lead to begin the game, but the Badger girls came back to take the lead in the game, closing out the first half with a score of Bonners Ferry 19, Priest River 15.

However, Priest River made up the difference in the second half, winning the game 45-36.

For Bonners Ferry, Savannah Woods had 14 points, and Jasmine Hill scored 9. Abby Skeen had 5 points, Regan Byers had 4, and Abby Davis and Miranda Wenk each scored 2.

The Badger Girls play their second game in the District Tournament today at 4:30 p.m. at the gym at North Idaho College. Their opponent today will be the Kellogg Wildcats. That came can be watched in a live video broadcast on our companion website www.boundarycountylive.com.
