Badgers shut out Reardan

October 7, 2013
By Coach Don Alt

On Friday the Bonners Ferry Badger football team traveled to play the Reardan High School Indians. The Badgers took the opening kickoff and set the tone of the game by driving to the 20 yard line while taking eight minutes off the clock. The Badgers did not score but kept Reardan in poor field position for the first quarter.

At the beginning of the second quarter quarterback Christian Trocke hooked up with wide out Matt Sabin for a 25 yard gain. On the next play Trocke threw to Conner Bennett for a 35 yard touchdown pass.

The point after by Jason Shutes was good and the Badgers lead 7 to 0.

The Badgers would drive again in the second quarter to the Indians 10 yard line after a muffed punt by Reardan. Trocke threw an interception at the one yard line to thwart a Badger drive.

The Badgers made another drive before halftime to the Indians 10 yard line. Runs by Bryan Yeoumans, Jack Rossi and Anthony Skeen drove the ball inside the 10 yard line. Rossi would run in from three yards out to make it 13 to 0. The point after was partially blocked and went wide left and the Badgers went to halftime up 13 to 0.

In the third quarter, Reardan came out and drove the ball to the Badger 15 yard line. The Badger defense stiffened on key plays by Quinn Cummings and Rossi at linebacker and Sabin from his defensive end position.

The third quarter would end with both teams making short drives with no points scored.

The Badgers would drive midway through the fourth quarter. Rossi and Yeoumans ran the ball up the middle and to the right side to take the ball to the Indian two yard line. From there, Skeen took the ball over the left side for the final score.

Shutes added a point after touchdown and the Badgers won 20 to 0.
