Lady Badgers fall in nail biter to Kellogg

The Badger volleyball team lost a five set
nail-biter Tuesday at home against the
league-leading Kellogg Wildcats.
The Badgers struggled during the first two sets
with missed serves and not being able to adjust
to Kellogg's blocks, falling 20-25, 20-25.
As the match progressed, the Badgers adjusted
their hitter coverage.
"The Lady Badgers realize how critical these
unforced errors become when playing a tight
match," said coach Janis Tucker. "They are
hungry to beat Kellogg and they are working to
reduce those errors. They also realize that if
they would have played the first two sets as
they did the last three, the outcome would
probably be different.
The Lady Badgers won the next two, 27-25, 25-19.
Normally, fifth games only go to 15 points, but
the two teams traded points back and forth until
Kellogg finally finishing on top, 21-19.
Jasmine Hill came in with 14 kills, McKenzie
McDonald 11, Amanda Wilson seven and Camille
Awbrey finished with five. Emma Kelly posted 38
assists, and Hill and Kelly both had three ace
serves.
The volleyball "Dig Pink" event kicks off in the
Bonners Ferry High School gym at 6 p.m. tonight,
and the Lady Badgers are on the road to play
Lakeland Thursday, with the varsity and JV teams
playing at Timberlake while the C-team is in
Lakelond.
On Saturday, the varsity girls will compete in
the 64-team Sheridan Classic tournament,
formerly called the Crossover Classic. |
