Interim fast pitch softball league formed

A group of concerned parents and community
members met March 21 to discuss the lack of a
well functioning fast pitch softball league in
our area. Of those in attendance, current high
school softball coach Lauren Bartoe expressed
her opinions on having a strong league for girls
to participate in and how much that helps her
high school program.
An agreement was brought forth for pursuit of a
Babe Ruth League charter.
An interim Boundary County Babe Ruth (BCBR)
board was elected to start the league for this
season with the agreement that nominations and
another election would be held this summer for
next season.
The interim board consists of president Lisa
Carle, vice president Jennifer English,
secretary Sabrina Winey, treasurer Anne
Tompkins, umpire in chief Wendy Bertling, and
sponsor and fundraising coordinator Paula
Schulte.
BCBR would like to appoint and elect more board
members throughout the upcoming season.
BCBR wishes to give every girl who wishes to
participate in the sport of fastpitch softball
the opportunity to do so. We will do this
keeping the safety and well-being of each young
player as our primary concern.
We plan to teach sound conditioning, develop
proper execution of fundamentals while having a
strong adherence to sportsmanlike conduct and
respect for the rules. We hope to teach the
athletes to have a spirit of cooperation and
team play while participating in this
competitive atmosphere. We hope we can in some
way help to develop these girls into productive
citizens of Boundary County.
Our last registration date
will be at the Parks & Rec free BBQ at noon
Saturday, April 27.
Registrations will still be accepted by mail; PO
Box 195, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805, after this

A copy of an original birth certificate must be
presented at time of registration. This seasons
divisions will consist of 14U, 12U and 10U
(birth years 1998-2003).
Teams will be traveling to play other Babe Ruth
teams from Troy, Libby and Eureka Montana. Games
will also be played here in Bonners Ferry.
