By Coach Tom Turpin

The Timberlake Tigers swept the Bonners Ferry Badgers in an IML baseball doubleheader last Saturday 10-5 and 8-3. The losses move the Badgers record to 5-8 overall and 0-3 league.

In the first game, Timberlake scored three runs in the first inning on two Badger errors. Bonners Ferry came back with four runs in the top of the second inning to take a brief lead when Mat Kramer reached on an error and later scored on an RBI single by Vince Bennett.

After Cade Umphenhour’s walk and Bennett’s single, John Brown hit an RBI single to score Umphenhour. Bennett and Brown later scored on a two run double by Garrett Skeen.

In the bottom of the second, Timberlake tied the game 4-4 with a RBI single from Austin Allen. The Badgers added a run in the top of the third after Kramer reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a RBI single from Jesse Woods.

Timberlake added two runs in their half of the third and three runs in the fifth inning to eventually win 10-5. Garrett Skeen and Mike Clarkson each had doubles in the game. Clarkson took the loss on the mound.

In the second game, the Badgers scored two early runs when leadoff hitter Garrett Skeen and Connor Bennett hit back to back doubles. Will Weir hit a RBI single to score Bennett.

But the Tigers roared back with five runs in their half of the first inning on only three hits. Timberlake added two more runs in the second after Mason Cramer hit a triple and scored on Austin Allen’s RBI single. Allen scored on Trevor Masterson’s first of three doubles in the game.

Bonners Ferry scored a single run in the top of the third inning after Weir walked and later scored on Caleb Blackmore’s RBI single. Skeen, Connor Bennett and Jesse Woods each had doubles in the game.

The Badgers play their final home games next Saturday, hosting Kellogg on senior day. Come out and support our seniors!
