Ronald
Lloyd Larson passed away unexpectedly from an
extended illness on September 30, 2016. Funeral
services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday,
October 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Ron was born June 3, 1955, in Bonners Ferry.
Growing up, he developed lifelong friendships
from an early age, as he participated in the
community in athletics, Scouts and church
activities. His tireless commitment to family
began from an early age, learning a great
respect and admiration for women through his
mother, Mary Emma.
He carried her lessons with him throughout his
life, as she taught him to be practical, caring,
and matter-of-fact with his own family. He
passed on these traits to each of his daughters.
In 1976, Ron married his high school sweetheart,
Kristina Mae Huggins. Together, they raised
three daughters and taught them what it means to
be married: to love your best friend.
Ron’s love of the woods led to a career in
logging after spending time in college at the
University of Idaho. He retired from the woods
in the fall of 2000, after building his family’s
home and discovering his passion for carpentry.
He taught himself everything he could and worked
in the carpentry business until he retired
again, but he continued to share his woodworking
projects with his close family.
Friends who worked with Ron remember him best
for his loyalty, strength, work ethic,
craftsmanship and joking nature. In recent
years, he most enjoyed playing with his
grandchildren, talking with his daughters and
spending time with the love of his life.
Ron endlessly teased the people he loved most,
and he appreciated those who reciprocated his
ribbing. They know him by many names: Ronnie,
Ron John, Chico, R.L., Grandpa Ron, Bad Guy Baby
Girl, Uncle Grandpa, and RoLar. He made time for
everyone with his endless patience, calm
reassurance and compassionate approach.
His daughters consider him more than a father;
they saw him as a friend.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd
Truman Larson and Mary Emma Lowery Larson. He is
survived by his wife, Kris Larson, his children
Tracy and John Culligan, Jaime Larson, and
Hailey and Birch Rose, his brothers Mike and
Kevin, his sister Susie, numerous nieces and
nephews, and his grandchildren Jacob Matthew,
Tyler Ronald, Jacy Mae, Riley John, and Jace
Daniel.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s
Hospital. |
