September 29, 2016
Anna "Annie" Marie Rosco Koon, 77, passed away on September 28, 2016, at her home in Bonners Ferry. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 1, at United Methodist Church, 6568 Lincoln, Bonners Ferry, with interment following at Grandview Cemetery.

Annie was born on November 19, 1938, in Kellogg, Idaho, to Vernon and Ethel Rosco. At an early age the family moved to Boundary County and settled in the Curley Creek Area. Annie attended Curley Creek, Buckhorn, Northside and Valley View schools as well as the old High School.

After a short marriage, a daughter, Roberta, was born, and it was necessary to go to work as a waitress to support herself. Annie worked for Ester Irons and the Don’s Café.

While working at Don’s Café she met the love of her life, Elden Koon, a Border Patrolman who was transferred to Bonners Ferry from the Mexican Border. They were married on July 17, 1963, and on May 8, 1964, David Koon was born.

Elden was later transferred to Sweetgrass, Montana, Detroit, Michigan, Helena, Montana, and then back to Bonners Ferry, where they built a home on 80 acres of land on the North Bench. Because of Annie’s health problems, they later moved to town and built a home in Bonners Ferry.

Annie loved animals and flowers and her pastime was golfing and bingo. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Hospital Auxiliary.

Annie is survived by her husband, Elden Koon, son David Koon, daughter Roberta Holmes, brothers Russell and Marion Rosco and Vernon and John Rosco. Her beloved aunt Valdie Burkholder and cousins Rockey Burkholder, Jimmy Burkholder and Teresa Becker, as well as lots of nieces and nephews granddaughters and six great grandchildren.
