Robert C. Helgerson, 91, passed away August 6, 2016, at Boundary Community Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Bob was born in Steen, Minnesota, on November 21, 1924, to Archie and Gladys Helgerson. His sister, Betty, was born in 1929.

Bob married the love of his life, Mary Moscrip, on November 30, 1946, in Spokane.

Bob served in the Army Air Force and the 116th Air National Guard from 1946 to 1953. Bob was the oldest, longest serving member of the American Legion Post #55 in Bonners Ferry.

Bob, a truck driver at heart, hauled logs for Moyie River Lumber Company, pipe for Dunn Brothers and propane for Petrolane. After retirement, Bob and his wife Mary, managed a motel/restaurant in Flagstaff, Arizona.

He was preceeded in death by parents Archie and Gladys Helgerson, Grand Junction, Colorado, sister and brother-in-law Betty and John Blasick, Grand Junction, brother-in-law Bill Moscrip, Lewiston, sister-in-law Judy Moscrip, Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, and daughter Linda Helgerson English, Moyie Springs.

Bob is survived by his wife Mary, at home in Moyie Springs, daughters Sandy (Mike) Tompkins, Bonners Ferry, Bobbi Helgerson, Prescott Valley, Arizona, Tammie Scheirman, Post Falls, and son Rick (Jeanette) Helgerson, Camp Verde, Arizona. Bob is also survived by grandchildren Tim English, Bonners Ferry, Tanja (Mike) Ferguson, Boise, Heather (Joe) Daniels, Cottonwood, Arizona, Heath (Bell) Helgerson, Camp Verde, Arizona, Rob (Anne) Tompkins, Bonners Ferry, Lindsey Tompkins, Caledonia, Illinois, Daniel Wayt, Milton, Washington, Travis Schierman, Post Falls, and Jennifer English, Bonners Ferry. Bob is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
