Larry
Cruthers passed away at his home near Bonners
Ferry, Idaho on November 18, 2015. Memorial
Services will be held on Saturday, December 12,
2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mountain Springs Church
in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
Larry was born on April 28, 1940 in Endicott,
Washington to Nelson and Mildred Cochran
Cruthers. He was raised in Hay, Washington until
1950, and then moved to Walla Walla, Washington.
In 1958 he joined the Coast Guard. Larry met
Valerie Ellsworth and they were married on May
7, 1960 in Coos Bay, Oregon. One son was born,
Clinton J. Cruthers.
In 1966 Larry was discharged from the Coast
Guard. He followed logging, then commercial
fishing in Oregon where owned his own 52-foot
trolling vessel. He was a great recycler. He
built and operated a salmon rearing facility,
for 16 years releasing 62,000,000 salmon fry all
as a strictly volunteer site. All the while as a
member of Coos River S.T.E.P.
Larry is survived by his Wife Valerie, son
Clinton, mother Mildred Cruthers, brother
Charles Cruthers and wife Modenas, sisters Sally
Williams, of Walla Walla, Washington, Gail and
Chester Broen, and Irene and Dave Reynolds, as
well as nieces and nephews and his family of the
Mountain Springs Church.
