Darlene K. Pinkerton
November 17, 1947 ~ May 21, 2015
May 26, 2015
Darlene Kay Pinkerton left us on May 20, 2015 in Coeur d’ Alene Idaho, with her husband Gary by her side.

Darlene was born in West Richland, Washington on November 17, 1947 to Hubert “J.R.” Dillard and Myrtle “Bobbie” Straight Dillard. Mom spent her childhood between North Idaho and the Tri-Cities, until her family settled in Athol, Idaho in 1959, where her family ran the H&H Truck Stop. Mom graduated from Lakeland High school in 1966. She met Gary Pinkerton on a blind date, and they married on June 1, 1968 at the Mount Hall Church in Copeland, Idaho.

Mom and Dad lived in various homes in Bonners Ferry, until finally settling in at the old Pinkerton farmstead in 1975. This is where they raised their four children. So many wonderful memories were made in the old house with mom in her kitchen cooking for all of the kids, grandkids, and friends. Everyone was welcome at her table, mom did not know a stranger. Mom worked in the kitchen at the Mt.Hall School for many years, she loved cooking for her “kids.”

Mom was most noted for her beautiful singing voice and amazing musical talents. She was seen in many venues over the years with her band Silverado where she was the lead vocalist and bass player. She loved her music, and it was on stage where she shined. Mom also recorded an album with a dear friend, complete with original songs written by her and her recording partner.

In January, 1993 mom became a grandma for the first time when her oldest grandson Brandon was born. In being a grandma, she found her true calling. Nobody could love being a grandma more than her. She had special affection for each and every one of her 15 grandkids, and she will live forever in a special place in their hearts.

Mom and Dad were very well known for their love of camping, especially at Robinson Lake. Many family cookouts were enjoyed there, and great memories were made for us all.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, J.R. and Bobbie Dillard, favorite aunts Donna Matsumoto and Iva Crisp, brothers in law Larry Pinkerton and Warren Perkins, and nephew Richard Dillard.

Mom is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gary Pinkerton. Three Brothers, Donald (Diane) Dillard, Hubert “Skip” Dillard, and Ralph (Jackie) Dillard. She is also survived by her four children, James (Alyssa) Pinkerton, Bonners Ferry, Teresa Pinkerton, Post Falls, Donna (Jason) Guthrie, Sandpoint and Alan (Amber) Pinkerton Post Falls. Also, her beloved grandchildren Brandon Pinkerton, Laine Bourland, Kyle Pinkerton, Daniel Guthrie, Jacobi Guthrie, Emmaline Pinkerton, Olivia Pinkerton, Jack Pinkerton, Joey Pinkerton, Sam Pinkerton, Ashlie Pinkerton, Julie Oxford, Vannessa Pinkerton, Kaylie Pinkerton and Marina Oxford. Mom also leaves behind her loving fur ball Stitch who was by her side at the time of her passing. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, too many to name but you know who you are!

A Celebration Of Life is being planned for a later date.
Mom was loved dearly by so many, and will be very missed by us all.

In Lieu of flowers, the family is asking for potted plants for a Memory Garden that will be built in Darlene’s name.
Condolences can be sent to: 6392 Tyler St. Bonners Ferry, Idaho 83805
