Christopher
John Matyi passed away peacefully at Boundary
Community Hospital, on January 7, 2015, with his
wife by his side. Please join us to celebrate
his life on January 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the
Event Center (Food Court) at the Boundary County
Fairgrounds.
Chris was born on November 5, 1968 in Ogden,
Utah to Tom and Melva Matyi. Chris grew up in
Kaysville, Utah with two brothers and one
sister. He enjoyed the Boy Scouts, entering
several Pinewood Derbies, and eventually helped
his son Adam build and win the Pine Wood Derby.
After an adventurous youth, Chris settled in
Moscow, Idaho, working in Parts for Columbia
Tractor. He later transferred to Bonners Ferry
when they purchased the John Deere Store in
town. Chis truly had a love for all that was
“green,” and loved being the local John Deere
Guy.
In 2002 Chris met and fell in love with Carolyn
Standley and her daughter Emma. They quickly
became a family of six.
Chris loved being outdoors, whether it was home
in the garden, picking huckleberries in the
mountains, sitting around a campfire, or just
soaking up the sun on the water. Recently Chris
had go to take part in Peterson Farms
harvesting, which filled him with peace and
fostered his love for the land and our
community.
Chris is survived by his wife Carolyn and his
children: Emma, Adam, Caitlyn and Ivan, his
parents Tom and Melva Matyi, his sister Michelle
(Lance) Heaton, brothers Jason (Holly) Matyi,
Josh (Jenny) Matyi and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Chris was a respected businessman, friend and
loving husband and father and will be missed by
many.
Family and friends are invited to sign Chris’s
book at www.bonnersferryfuneralhome.com
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of
Bonners Ferry Funeral Home. |
