Ernest Lawrence 'Ernie' Loewen, 83, passed away on March 1, 2014, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene. Services were held March 8 at United Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry with private interment in Grandview Cemetery.

Son of Jacob and Susana Loewen, he was a caring son, brother, father and friend. Ernie served in the Korean War; after returning home began his career with the Southern Pacific Railroad which lasted more than 30 years.

Ernie is survived by his daughter Jill Loewen, sons Rodger Loewen, Kenny Jason and wife Jennifer Loewen, step son; John. Ernie's 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren and loving friend Valdie Burkholder.
