Bobie
Harrison Eby, 81, passed away on February 20,
2014, in the Boundary Community Hospital ER in
Bonners Ferry as a result of complications of
COPD. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday,
March 1, in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home
Chapel. Private interment will follow at
Grandview Cemetery.
Bobie was born on December 29, 1932, in
Valentine, Nebraska, to Joseph Lincoln and Eva L
Eby. As a child he moved with his family to the
Moyie Springs area in 1937, where the family
purchased a farm at Dawson Lake.
He received his education in Boundary County,
graduating from Bonners Ferry High School. After
his education he entered the U.S. Army and
served in Korea. While in the Service he met and
married Shirley Anne Berlin on January 31, 1953,
in Olympia, Washington.
After his discharge from the Army in April of
1953, he spent the next few years moving from
state to state working in the woods, in sawmills
and as an auto body repair man before moving
back to Bonners Ferry in 1975. He worked for the
Idaho Department of Transportation, where he
worked until his retirement in 1997. He has
resided in Bonners Ferry until his death.
Throughout his life he spent many hours fishing,
camping and hunting. He also enjoyed playing the
guitar and traveling. Bob loved working in his
garden and was very generous in sharing all he
grew. He was well known in the community and
from time to time would take is guitar and
entertain at the senior center.
Survivors include four sons; Bobie and wife
Yolanda, Donnie and Jerry, all of Spokane, and
Loren and wife Penny of Laclede, Idaho; brothers
Richard (Rich), Moyie Springs and Lester
(Short), Omak, Washington, sisters Sandy and
Mary Ann, both of Spokane, Gladys (Peggy) of
Portland, Oregon. nine grandchildren and 11
great grandchildren
