Beverly
Jean Docherty, 79, a Bonners Ferry native and
lifelong resident, passed away at Boundary
Community Hospital Wednesday afternoon, December
5, 2013. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday
December 16, at United Methodist Church.
Beverly was born in Bonners Ferry January 22,
1934, to Allen L. and Edna Christine (Dehlbom)
Ashby. She attended grade school in Bonners
Ferry and graduated from Bonners Ferry High
School. Beverly married Russell (Doc) Docherty
May 3, 1953, and had two sons, Shane and Rusty.
and one daughter, Rachel.
Beverly worked in a variety of jobs including
The Creamy, Bonners Ferry Feed and Grain, the
hospital and Boundary County Free Library. She
LOVED her job at the library, working there for
21 years retiring as director in 1996.
Beverly loved the outdoors, the beauty of
Boundary County and Smokey Acres.
She also loved spending time with her friends
and philanthropic organizations. She was a
member of Beta Sigma Phi for 47 years, a
Jacycette, and enjoyed her monthly card and
lunch groups. She instilled the value of
education and all of her children graduated from
the University of Idaho.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents,
Lester and Edna Ashby and son Shane.
She is survived by her husband Russell, brother
Mike Ashby, sister in law Mary Lou Eckenfels
(Tom), son Rusty and daughter Rachel (Chris)
Young, grandchildren Bevin Swannack, Taryn
Docherty, Jillian Docherty, Katie Docherty,
Tucker and Ruby Young.
