A memorial for Josh Wilkerson, 25, Naples, who
lost his life Tuesday, August 20, 2013, in a vehicle collision
near his Naples home,
was held Saturday, August 24, at
a place he dearly loved, the Bonners Ferry High
School soccer field.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that
friends bring and donate a soccer ball, each to
be given to children throughout the community to
help spread Josh's love of the game.
The response was overwhelming.
All who would like to assist the family in their
time of need should contact Springs of Living
Water Free Methodist Church, 6957 LaBrosse Hill
Road, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, 83805, or call (208)
267-2513 or (208) 610-9132.
Josh, a firefighter with the Idaho Department of
Lands, is the son of Wayne and Wanda Wilkerson,
Naples. He and Natasha were wed July 28, 2013.
Joshua was born in Spokane, Washington, on
December 30, 1987. Josh grew up in Naples and
graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in
2006. Soccer was Josh’s passion, and life-long
friendships blossomed from his time having fun.
He enjoyed traveling, hiking, skiing, tennis,
art, movies, reading and learning, and he
excelled in each with an uncanny ease.
He thrived at North Idaho College, where he
received his AA in General Studies and again at
University of Montana, where in 2012 he grabbed
his Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology and a
minor in Spanish.
Josh played in nature and just happened to
collect a paycheck for his efforts.
Clifty View Nursery, the National Forest
Service, Schweitzer Mountain Resort, Idaho
Department of Lands, and University of Montana
were among the places Josh desired to be.
Joshua was a true adventurer, traveling
extensively in the Inland Northwest, as well as
Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, Argentina, Patagonia,
and the Bahamas. Even small trips to the woods
or the lake would put a skip in his step and
bring a smile to his face.
Joshua’s personality was compassionate beyond
belief. Many lives were affected by his humor,
creativity, and unique character. His smiles lit
up any room and he inspired those who knew him
well.
Joshua is survived by the love of his life, best
friend, and partner Natasha. He was a loving
husband and dedicated to family. He is lovingly
remembered by parents Wayne and Wanda Wilkerson
of Naples and parents-in-law Bud and Cathy
Litterell of Bonners Ferry, brothers Jason and
Jody, grandparents Betty and Bill Weller of
Spokane, grandma Phyllis Wilkerson of Cheney,
Washington, and great-grandma Margaret Weller of
Spokane, a large extended family, and, in short,
by everyone he ever met.
Josh has left a legacy of love and is forever in
our hearts. |
