Margaret
Eleanor (Lynn) Urfer, 93, of Bethlehem,
Connecticutt, passed away on July 5, 2013, in
Bonners Ferry.
Maggie was raised in Bethlehem, where she lived
her entire life. She is the daughter of Ellen A.
Anderson and Raymond E Lynn.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Philip
(Phil) Urfer, and brothers Mahlon, Raymond Jr.
(Chip), Robert and Carl Lynn.
She is survived by her daughters and their
husbands, Lynne and Garry Lovrin of Naples, and
Luanne Urfer and Michael Bowden of Alaska, four
grandchildren, Kelly Simancas, Kerry Traugott
(Jonathan), Jill Lovrin and Bryce Lovrin, and
two great grandchildren, Michael and Ava
Simancas. She is also survived by three
sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews who
were all very dear to her.
Maggie was a graduate of Watertown High School,
and earned her Bachelors in Education from
Danbury Teachers College and Masters in
Education from the University of Connecticut.
She taught in Watertown, Connecticutt, at
Baldwin School, then moved to Bethlehem
Elementary and later to Woodbury Middle School.
Her enthusiasm for education was her trademark.
Maggie and her college friends stayed in touch,
reminiscing fondly about their school years.
She is survived by her classmate Ann Willis.
Maggie was a member of the Bethlehem
Congregational Church in Bethlehem, and served
as a volunteer with many Bethlehem
organizations. She was an active community
member and enjoyed her many friends and family
there. After retirement, Maggie lived in
Deltona, Florida, during the winter, where she
was always busy volunteering at the library and
with other agencies.
Maggie's family wishes to thank all of the
wonderful staff of ACE Elder Care and the
Community Restorium for their loving care and
kindness for Maggie during her stay in Bonners
Ferry.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday, July 20, at the Bethlehem
Congregational Church, Main St. in
Bethlehem,followed by graveside services at
Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends may call at the
Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main Street in
Watertown, CT. Friday evening, July 19, from 7
to 9 p.m.

Western Connecticut State University Scholarship
