Erwin Milbert Voegele

June 2, 1922 ~ March 25, 2013
Erwin M. Voegele, 90, passed away on March 25, 2013, at Ace Elder Care in Bonners Ferry. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry. A graveside service will follow at Grandview Cemetery.

Erwin was born June 2, 1922, to John and Paulina Voegele in Hosmer, South Dakota. He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946, and married Wilma Georhing June 20, 1948.

They moved to Bonners Ferry in 1959, and Erwin went to work for Bob Meeker at Meeker's Machine Shop, where he worked for 25 years.

After retiring at age 62, he led led a full and active life. He loved to fish and was an. He was an avid gardener. He enjoyed playing pinochle, loved to dance to country and western music, and played piano and organ at many local occasions. He spoke fluent German.

He was a charter member of the Bonners Ferry Eagles and a former elder at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Erwin is survived by children Darnell and wife Patti and Peggy Voegele, all of Bonners Ferry, and Pam Bryant and husband Calvin, Elma, Washington; brothers Lester Voegele and Myron Voehele; sisters Ida Adams and Irene Niewsma, both of South Dakota, and Mavis Peach, Rosemont, Minnesota; grandchildren Darrell, Angela, Heidi, Bruce and Hollie; three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and three brothers.
