Murder suspect spotted, pursued in northern Bonner County; remains at large

A man with an arrest warrant for a recent Nampa, Idaho murder escaped from a pursuit in the northern part of Bonner County, along with his female companion, according to police.

James Mancuso, age 32, is being sought under a warrant for second-degree murder in the case. Mr. Mancuso and Ashley Ford, age 27, are said to have fled the scene of the Thursday, March 30 stabbing of Robert L. Stevens, age 30. The attack occurred in Nampa, reportedly during a fight in front of a Nampa home. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he died the following day.



Nampa police have been following leads and searching for the suspects.

Yesterday evening, Bonner County Sheriff Department officials released information that there was heavy law enforcement activity in the area of U.S. Highway 95 and Race Track Road, which is in the northern part of Bonner County near Woods Meat Processing, about 10 miles south of the Boundary County / Bonner County line. The Sheriff’s Department released advised residents in the area to remain in their homes for safety.

Details of what had happened in the Bonner County area later emerged. According to reports, Idaho State Police spotted a 2009 blue Subaru Forester in Bonner County yesterday afternoon, a car which was believed to have been driven by the fugitives When the car was spotted, ISP began a pursuit.

“It was a relatively short pursuit,” said Bonner County Under Sheriff David Hale. “The vehicles were off-roading essentially near a railroad area, and it was quite muddy from all the rain, and both vehicles were stuck for a short period of time, but the suspect vehicle was able to get free and escape.”

The Subaru was later found, abandoned. Reportedly an empty nearby home appeared to have been broken into and was searched by law enforcement, along with the entire area in the vicinity. Bonner County law enforcement, the Idaho State Police, and U.S. Marshals have all been involved in the search

The Subaru driven by the suspect is currently in possession of law enforcement.

Officials have released the following descriptive information on the suspects:

James Patrick Mancuso, born January 31, 1984, height 6’ 00”, 180 pounds, brown hair, blue eyes.

Ashley Nicoli Ford, born May 24, 1988, height 5’ 09”, 150 pounds, blond hair, hazel eyes.

Records show that Mr. Manuso had a previous sentencing in Ada County for aggravated battery.

The latest word from the Bonner County Sheriff’s office as of about 8:00 a.m. is that the suspects remain at large: “As of right now, there are not any updates. They have not yet been caught.” They are considered to be armed and dangerous.
