Candidates filed for Bonners Ferry mayor,
city council elections
September 8, 2015
(This story has been updated since it was originally published).

City elections are coming up for Bonners Ferry in about two months.

Set for Tuesday, November 3, this election will determine the mayor of Bonners Ferry, and will fill three of the four City Council positions.

Last Friday was the final day to file to run for office in the Bonners Ferry city elections.

Current Bonners Ferry Mayor David Anderson is seeking re-election. Also filing to run for mayor is David Sims, who currently serves as the Boundary County Economic Development Coordinator.

On the City Council, three positions are up for election. These include two four-year City Council seats currently held by Connie Wells and Rick Alonzo, and a two-year seat now held by Adam Arthur.

Ms. Wells and Mr. Alonzo, who currently hold the Council's four-year seats, will be running for re-election to those Council seats. Merle Dinning has also filed to run for a four-year Council seat.

In the election, those two seats will go to the two candidates who receive the two highest vote totals.

Adam Arthur is the only candidate who filed for the two-year Council seat he currently holds, so he is running unopposed for that seat, unless a write-in candidate files. According to Kris Larson, City Clerk, any write-in candidate has until 5:00 p.m. on October 6 to file for the election.
