Parker Ridge Fire moves some toward the
northeast in direction of private lands and
structures |

Fire officials report today the size of the
Parker Ridge Fire has expanded some to 591
acres.
Spot fires spread to the northeast last night,
due to gusty winds up to nearly 40 miles per
hour. This is the direction from the fire where
private property lies. These spot fires
are beginning to merge together on the northeast
flank of the fire. Fire crews plan to
aggressively attack this area today.
"Helicopters are securing the northeast edge
with water drops, while ground crews are
preparing homes, installing sprinkler systems,
and conducting defensive actions for properties
in the area on the Westside Road," fire
officials reported.
Currently there are 54 firefighting personnel
assigned to this fire, along with air resources.
The fire commander is Rodney J. Weeks, who is an
engine captain on the Coeur d’Alene District of
the Idaho Panhandle National Forest. His team is
the same Type 3 team that managed the Baker's
Camp Fire in mid-July.
Thunderstorms are forecast for Wednesday and
Thursday this week with increasingly hot and
unstable conditions. A cold front passage is
anticipated Thursday night into Friday with
strong winds.
