Road work will affect all traffic at Eastport port of entry
May 7, 2015
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations advises that a road resurfacing project at the port of entry in Eastport, Idaho, will impact traffic entering the United States at Eastport through the summer and into the fall, until October 1, 2015.

Starting May 7, commercial and non-commercial vehicles entering the United States from Canada may experience delays at the border as traffic at the port of Eastport will be limited to two lanes of traffic.

CBP suggests that motorists arriving in non-commercial vehicles consider alternate ports of entry into the United States, such as Porthill, Idaho, or Roosville, Montana.

Commercial traffic is also encouraged to plan their entry into the United States through other commercial ports of entry:

· Sweetgrass, Montana, is a 24-hour commercial port to the east, located approximately 60 miles south of Lethbridge, Alberta. Sweetgrass is equipped for commercial cattle and swine shipments, beef and pork, animal feeds, fish and wildlife products, and shipments regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

· Roosville, Montana, is a 24-hour commercial port located just east of Eastport, Idaho. It can accommodate all commercial entries except those that need to be inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Veterinary Services, U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety Inspection Service, U.S. Food and Drug Administration or U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services.

· Porthill, Idaho, located west of Eastport, is a permit port. Commercial shipments must have a port permit to use the port of Porthill. Information on obtaining a commercial permit may be obtained by telephoning the Supervisory Entry Officer at the Great Falls Area Port Office at 406-453-7631.
