Inauguration events listed for newly elected Idaho officials; Idaho public invited
December 3, 2014
The 2015 inauguration ceremony for the Governor of Idaho and State of Idaho constitutional officers will take place on Friday, January 9, 2015.  Glittering inaugural events are set for the following day at the Idaho State Capitol building.

The Inauguration will take place at noon on January 9 on the south steps of the State Capitol. It will include the swearing in of the governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state controller, attorney general and superintendent of public instruction.

The Inaugural Procession and Ball will take place the following day on Saturday, January 10 in the Capitol. This non-partisan event continues Idaho’s long tradition of honoring state elected officials. The Inaugural Ball was first held in the newly built Capitol building in 1913, when John M. Haines was inaugurated as Idaho’s tenth governor. According to a newspaper report of that time, the traditional Grand Procession “wound up and over the spacious staircases…like a many-colored serpent of various hues.” It is much the same today as it was then.

The Idaho National Guard’s 25th Army Band will provide music at the Inaugural Ball, and a professional photographer will be on hand to help participants create a lasting memory of this event.

Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. and the Grand Procession of the statewide elected officers, legislators and distinguished guests will commence at 8:00 p.m.

The Inaugural Ball is financed by ticket sales and admission to the ball is by ticket only. Tickets are $25 and are available for sale to the public online at http://inaugural.idaho.gov/  Tickets will also be on sale on the Garden Level of the Idaho State Capitol January 5-9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free-parking is available at all Capitol Mall Parking lots, including the garage at 6th and Washington Street, and the new garage at 7th and Washington Street.
