Forest Service seeks public input on
Hellroaring Project near Eastport |

The Bonners Ferry Ranger District is seeking
public comment on the recently released
Hellroaring Project Environmental Assessment
(EA). Members of the public who wish to review
the EA and submit comments may obtain a copy of
the EA online at
http://www.fs.usda.gov/projects/ipnf/landmanagement/projects
(scroll to find “Idaho Panhandle National Forest
Current and Recent Projects” and look for the
Hellroaring Project) or, hard copies are
available at the Bonners Ferry Ranger District
office. All comments must be received within 30
days of the publication of legal notice in the
Coeur d’Alene Press. The Forest Service
anticipates publication of the legal notice on
July 25, 2014.
The project is located on national forest system
lands within and around the Hellroaring and
Little Hellroaring Creek drainages approximately
4 miles southwest of Eastport, Idaho. Proposed
project activities include primarily vegetation
management and fuel reduction activities, as
well as activities to manage noxious weeds,
roads, motorized trails, big game forage, fish
passage, and scenery. The Forest Service
developed this project in collaboration with the
Kootenai Valley Resource Initiative to
complement other landscape restoration work in
the Lower Kootenai River Valley.
