Boundary County unemployment numbers released

In the latest figures just released by the Idaho Department of Labor, Boundary County's unemployment rate for June remained about the same as the prior month, though improved over the same time period from one year ago. Boundary County continues to have an unemployment rate higher than the current Idaho statewide rate, though our county's figures are comparable with US unemployment nationwide.

For the state of Idaho, the seasonally-adjusted June unemployment rate fell two-tenths of a percentage point to 4.7 percent, which makes 35 months in a row for decreasing unemployment in Idaho on a statewide basis.

Here are the numbers for Boundary County, for Idaho, and for the United States:


BOUNDARY COUNTY:

Preliminary result, June 2014 percent unemployed: 6.2%

Previous month, May 2014 percent unemployed: 6.3%

One year ago, June 2013 percent unemployed: 7.6%


IDAHO:

Preliminary result, June 2014 percent unemployed: 4.7%

Previous month, May 2014 percent unemployed: 4.9%

One year ago, June 2013 percent unemployed: 6.3%


UNITED STATES:

Preliminary result, June 2014 percent unemployed: 6.1%

Previous month, May 2014 percent unemployed: 6.3%

One year ago, June 2013 percent unemployed: 7.5%


According to figures released in the Idaho Department of Labor report, Boundary County's civilian labor force is 4,483 individuals; 280 of those workers are reported as unemployed.

The county with the best employment figures statewide was Oneida County (in the Malad, Idaho area). Oneida County had an unemployment rate of 2.9% in June.

The county with the highest unemployment rate was Clearwater County (in the Orofino area). The Clearwater County unemployment rate was 9.6% in June.

Statewide, almost 15,000 more Idaho workers had a job compared with one year ago, when Idaho's unemployment rate was 6.3%.
