On March 12, Bonners Ferry High School coordinated efforts with law enforcement to reduce the presence of drugs in and around the High School campus.

The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Bonners Ferry Police Department, Boundary County Drug Task Force and Boundary County Sheriff’s Office in identifying students who were responsible for bringing illegal drugs and drug related items into the school.

Three Bonners Ferry High School students were charged with drug related offenses. A 16 year old student was arrested and later released to parents on felony and misdemeanor possession charges, as well as a misdemeanor charge of providing false information to a peace officer. A 17 year old student was arrested and later released to parents on felony and misdemeanor possession charges. The third student, 18 year old Alex Pinson, was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

The Bonners Ferry High School administration and staff wants to ensure that all students have a safe, healthy school environment. They recognize that illegal drug use can pose a risk to their students.

In coordinating with law enforcement to reduce the presence of dangerous drugs in the school, the high school made efforts to minimize the disruption to the regular school day.
