Storm watch upgraded to warning

A winter storm watch issued yesterday by the
National Weather Service, Spokane, was upgraded
early this morning in a winter storm warning
that described the approaching winter storm as
"vigorous."
A storm warning indicates that the chances of
the predicted weather occurring are rated as
extremely high. The warning is in effect from 1
p.m. today through 4 p.m. Thursday.
The system is expected to develop with light
snow over north central and northeast Washington
early this afternoon, and gain in intensity as
it spreads over the Idaho Panhandle. The valleys
could see as much as six inches of snow, while
the mountains, particularly those in Shoshone
County, could see more than a foot of fresh
snow.
Weather forecasters predict that the snow will
make travel, especially at higher elevations,
difficult or impossible. |
