If you've enjoyed the balmy, summer-like
temperatures of late, with the thermometer
hitting the low 40s some days of sultry
November, grab your wool socks, winter
temperatures are finally here.
Tonight's low could hit 16-degrees, still on the
warm side, but northeast winds at 11 to 17 miles
per hour are going to make it feel like it's two
below, the National weather Service says, and
the high tomorrow is expected to top out at 19
degrees, but the winds are expected to pick up,
blowing steady at around 21 miles per hour, with
gusts up to 30 miles per hour.
That will drive the wind chill factor to seven
below. The temperature is expected to drop to
zero Tuesday night, with a wind chill of -17.
But wait, it gets better!
On Wednesday, the sun is expected to come back
out and warm things up to a brisk high of 11 ...
but the wind is expected to stay, making it feel
like it's 14 below. And Wednesday night, actual
temperatures are expected to drop to -11.
That means you'll need to pull your winter
jacket out of storage before heading to work
Thursday morning.
On Thursday, the daytime high should climb all
the way to seven, and drop back to -10 after the
sun goes down. Temperatures are expected to stay
in that neighborhood through Sunday, when a warm
front moves in and heats it all the way up to 12
degrees, close to North Idaho swimming weather.
But the warm spell brings with it clouds and a
20-percent chance of snow.
Next Monday should see a high around 15 degrees
under mostly sunny skies.
If you're a snowbird who was beginning to
question your decision to fly south for the
winter, maybe it's a good thing you went, after
