Vapor Max damaged by fire

October 31, 2013
An early morning fire caused heavy damage to the Vapor Max store, 6387 Kootenai Street in downtown Bonners Ferry. According to Bonners Ferry Fire Chief Pat Warkentin, it appears the cause was electrical.

According to Warkinton, the owner of the business, Crystal Anton, was notified at home of a burglar alarm, and she called the sheriff's office.

Bonners Ferry Police Officer Willie Cowell responded to the business, saw smoke inside and noticed that the windows were hot, and at 3:03 a.m. called for the fire department.

Fire personnel were able to quickly extinguish the blaze and limit damage, but Warkentin said there was extensive interior fire and smoke damage. Fire crews remained on scene for about three hours.

"Vapor max will be closed until we move into the new building in a few weeks due to a fire," Anton posted on Facebook this morning. "We will try to salvage what we can and if you need anything you can call us at (208) 597-2683. We will be operating from our home, so please call your liquid order in ahead of time. God bless you all, thank you for understanding."
