Middle schoolers to open Christmas Store

grade Reading Plus class will be working
with the Junior Class Parents to open a
Christmas Store at the school December

Students in Mrs. Kelly Hinthorn's eighth grade
Reading plus class aren't only reading, they're
hard at work preparing to open a very special
Christmas Store in the middle school library in
conjunction with a Junior Class Parents Breakfast in the
lunch room on Saturday, December 7.
"While their parents are having breakfast, kids
will be able to come in and get affordable gifts
for their family," said student Kaylee Kramer.
They will be able to do a lot more besides; the
students will also have story tellers and a
craft shop where kids will be able to make their
own Christmas cards and more.
The class worked together to come up with the
idea, and they'll be working together to make
the Christmas Store something truly special.
Later this week, a delegation will meet with the
Junior Class Parents to continue their planning
and firm jup the hours the store will be open.
The idea, students said, was to help kids and
their families by offering a variety of gifts
that kids can afford.
The Christmas Store will be open to everyone in
the community.
The students have received around $200 through
the Target
Gives Back program, which they'll use to
begin stocking gift items suitable for each
member of the family, from mom and dad to
brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins. In
addition, class members will be collecting items
donated by the community, and they're seeking
gently used toys, clothes, coats; all the things
that make Christmas special.
And the Christmas Store will help many more than
those who walk through the door and take part in
the festivities; all proceeds will go to the
Boundary County Tree of Sharing to help ensure
that no one in the community misses out on the
joy of Christmas.
