Welcome back to BFHS

August 22, 2013
By Principal Tim Gering
Bonners Ferry High School

Dear Parents and Students,

I would like to welcome you to the start of an exciting year at Bonners Ferry High School! Throughout the year it will be our goal to make our school a place where students receive a quality education that will prepare them for anything they want to do in life.

When students are given the tools and support needed to be successful; they will have the confidence to achieve their goals. We will strive to provide classes that are relevant, meaningful, and challenging. It is very important to me that each and every student is safe and has a sense of belonging.

Although our focus is academics, I believe in the whole educational experience. There are many opportunities for student involvement at the high school level: sports, cheerleading, dance, drama, robotics, student council, to name a few.

For a complete list, please visit our website: www.bcsd101.com and go to the Bonners Ferry High School site or review our student handbook.

Please note the new attendance policy. Attendance is a high priority because when a student is absent they are missing valuable time in the classroom. Please take a few moments to review the student handbook as well. It is online and your student will be given a copy. The handbook contains board policies that govern our school.

The following dates are for the students to pick up schedules, locker assignments, and pay fines. Please return all of the needed paperwork. Schedules will not be handed out before school if there are outstanding fines or paperwork is not completed.

    Seniors – August 27
    Juniors/Sophomores – August 28
    Freshman Orientation – August 29 (8 a.m. – noon)

Please note that there is a new bell schedule: school will commence at 7:50 a.m. (first bell at 7:45).

All of the Bonners Ferry High School staff agrees wholeheartedly with the Spence Rogers philosophy when he states: “Our kids are worth whatever it takes.”

With the support of parents and the community we will make this a great year. I am looking forward to serving as your principal and encourage you to stop by and say hello. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call or come in.
