Flood warning issued on Moyie

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning at 11:01 p.m. today for minor flooding on the Moyie River at Eastport, to be in effect until 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Above average temperatures and rainfall over the last 24 hours have caused increased snowmelt and runoff. High runoff is expected to continue for several days.

As of 9:45 p.m., the river had reached 8.88 feet, flood stage is nine feet. It is expected to reach flood stage by midnight and continue to rise to 9.4 feet by latew morning on Tuesday before dropping back down below flood stage Wednesday afternoon.

Lowland flooding is likely between Eastport and Addie.
