Summer Football Conditioning
June 9, 2014
Although I know that it is hard to believe, but the first day of football practice is on Monday August 11; that is only nine weeks from now. In the next nine weeks, we, as a team, have the opportunity to continue the work that we started in class this past semester, and to continue to get bigger, stronger, and faster.

As I have said many times: If we want to compete with the likes of Timberlake, we must commit to putting in the time and effort that they put in. Football is a team sport. There are 22 positions and 11 men on the field at the same time. All eleven must perform as a team in order to succeed. It is this team commitment that we need to start this summer in the weight room. As I told the players and the parents at the meeting last week: Commitment is not a one way street, it is a multi-lane highway. It takes all involved (coaches, players, parents, community, etc.) to succeed. It doesn’t work when three or four players show up one night and six or seven players another, and one or two players another night. As such, in order to keep the weight room open, we must average 15 players per night.

The weight room will be open Monday – Thursday from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. starting Monday, June 16.

Please be there promptly, as the first hour will be in the weight room and the second will be on the field doing drills and learning plays. Each player either already has, or will have his own specific workout binder that we will be using this summer and through the football season.

Bonners Ferry football can be successful this year, if we all (coaches, players, parents, community, etc.) work together. Success does not just happen, it takes all of the clichés: Hard work, dedication, commitment, sacrifice, team work, etc. If we, as a team, can come together, I have no doubt that the future can be bright. If we don’t, then we can’t expect much to change. This is your team, your school, your community. The amount of work and effort that you put into this, as a team, will determine the direction we go. How bad do you want it?
