Given bad info

I recently submitted the proper paperwork, which
was accepted and approved by both the county and
city clerks, to run for the office of Mayor and
City Councilperson for the City of Moyie
Springs.
I was later called by the city clerk and told
that the county had contacted the Secretary of
State and said I could not run for both offices
and needed to choose one.
I later checked with the SOS. This is the
response ..."Although it is our recommendation
that the person choose one office, there is
currently no law that prevents someone from
running for both mayor and city council." Tim
Hurst, Chief Deputy.
So why was I told I could not? |
