Last chance for 'Liberation of a Butterfly'

If you like Anime', Steampunk, Frankenstein,
Shakespeare or just a great theater production,
you have to go see "The Liberation of the
Butterfly," an original production by Jesse
Tobin that opened last weekend to rave reviews
and ends its run this weekend.
Danger, love, loss, pride, failure, redemption, Tobin’s original
multimedia theatrical work has something for
everyone. Loosely based on Mary Shelley’s
"Frankenstein," the show premiered to
enthusiastic crowds at the Bonners Ferry High
School Becker Auditorium last Friday and
Saturday evenings.
Set in Ireland with a steampunk twist, this
intriguing play had audience members commenting
on the detailed costumes, imaginative set,
“fabulous acting" and the depth of the
characterizations and plot.
Tobin, a 2011 BFHS graduate, was inspired to
write the story while touring Ireland with
friend and fellow performer Isaiah Botkin, and
has been intimately involved in every aspect of
the production. With a great deal of help from
her supportive family and enthusiastically
directed by BFHS drama teacher David Carpenter,
the play features Tobin and recent NIC graduate
Lauren Skye Palmer, with Botkin and local
playwright Paul Rawlings alongside a talented
cast of extras.
The Liberation of the Butterfly returns for its
final performances this Friday and Saturday,
March 14 and 15, at 7 p.m. at the Becker
Auditorium in Bonners Ferry. Tickets are
available at Mountain Mikes, Bonners Books or at
the door, $10 general admission, $8 students,
and $6 under 12 or over 65.
Locally written, produced and performed, this is
