On Saturday, April 27, 2013, Libby Dam Visitor
Center will be hosting a presentation by raptor
biologist Janie Fink, who has studied and worked
with birds of prey for twenty years.
There will be two lectures, the first at 11 a.m.
and the second at 12:30 p.m.
Ms. Fink has nursed injured wild birds of prey
back to health and reintroduced to the wild
endangered raptors such as ospreys and peregrine
falcons. She travels with live specimens to
educate the public about their ecological value,
and the challenges they face.
She will bring several live hawks, owls, eagles
and falcons with her to Libby Dam Visitor Center
for the 10 a.m. demonstration. There will be an
educational presentation and opportunities to
see the birds and ask questions.
For the safety of the birds, handler and
audience, Please, no photography during the
presentations! Also to ensure safety of the
birds, we will be capping attendance based on
the number of seats available.
Anyone who may need assistance with seating can
contact Ranger Susan James by April 25 at (406)
293-5577.
On the day of the event, the Libby Dam Visitor
Center will also offer wildlife videos in the
theater. Bring your binoculars, there’s lots of
other wildlife to be seen around the area!
Watch nesting eagles in action: the eagle pair
near Libby Dam are nesting again! See their work
on closed-circuit TV at the visitor center.
