Janet Lou Ray, 72, passed away peacefully
February 4, 2013, near Sandpoint. Funeral
services will be held at the Bonners Ferry
Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 1 p.m. Sunday,
February 17.
Janet was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, December
14, 1940. Her parents, Ray and Ruth (De Boer)
Hanson, bought a grain truck and turned it into
a modern day covered wagon and moved the family
to Bonners Ferry from Weeping Water, Nebraska.
When they arrived in town they were greeted by
the flood of 1948.
They made their home in the Copeland/Porthill
area, where the kids grew up and went to school.
While attending Bonners Ferry High School, Janet
met Phillip Ray and they were married in 1959.
Janet and Phillip had three children, Russell
Ray, Vickie (Alan) Hamilton, and Rhonda (David)
Abeyta.
After Janet and Phillip divorced she worked at
the Restorium. She later moved to California and
studied to become an in-home care giver. She
worked in California and Washington for a short
time.
Janet returned to Bonners Ferry and retired.
Janet had a love for animals and the most recent
was her dog, Scooter.
Janet was very giving and active in the
Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Janet past away
peacefully on February 4th, 2013.
Along with her children and grandchildren, Janet
is survived by her sister Carolyn Dinning, twin
brother James Hanson brother Edward Hanson and
half-sister Laurel Avery.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and
former husband. In lieu of flowers the family
would like donations to go to the Bonners Ferry
Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
