Badgers perform well at State Track and Field Championships
Victoria Rae is State Champion in Shot Put, gets second in Discus

Bonners Ferry High School sent qualifying members of their track and field team to the Idaho 3-A Track and Field Championships, held this past Friday and Saturday in Middleton, Idaho.

The Badgers made a good showing there, highlighted by sophomore Victoria Rae taking first place at State in shot put, thereby becoming the 2018 3-A State Shot Put Champion. Victoria's throw for first place was 37-09.

Victoria added another state medal when she placed second in State in discus at the State Tournament with a throw of 120-03.

Other Bonners Ferry Badgers who placed in the Idaho 3-A Track and Field Championships were:

Nikolous Bertling, a Badger senior, tied for second place in pole vault at state, clearing 13-00 feet.

Abigail Gorton, a sophomore, took 3rd place at State in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:05.72

Jordan Young, a senior, placed 4th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:24.66.

Jordan Young also placed 4th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:29.43.

Holly Ansley, freshman, finished 7th in triple jump with a distance of 33-11.50

Holly Ansley also placed 7th in State long jump with a distance of 16-00.

Jerzie Pluid, a junior, tied for 10th in high jump with a jump of 4-08.00

Abigail Gorton, a sophomore, added to her 3rd place medal in the 3200 listed above by placing 11th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:45.42.

Joseph Swanson, a senior, was 12th in long jump with a distance of 19-07.25.

Hunter Smith, a sophomore, finished 12th in the 3200 meter run at 10:58.65

Izaic Vandecoevering, a senior, placed 14th in shot put with a throw of 37-07.50
