Bonners Ferry Baseball defeats Kimberly in State Tournament, plays in Championship Game tomorrow
 
The Bonners Ferry High School baseball team is in the championship game at the 3-A State Tournament.

In a high scoring game earlier today, the Badgers defeated the Kimberly Bulldogs 19-12 to advance to tomorrow’s championship game, where they will play Homedale.

The Badgers started off big in today’s game against Kimberly, putting nine runs on the scoreboard in their first at-bat in the first inning. Things were looking good when Kimberly answered with only three runs in their half of the inning.

Kimberly put up three more runs in the fifth inning, to the Badgers two, then Kimberly had their big inning in #5, when they notched five runs to tie the score at 11.

Both teams went scoreless in the sixth, and the final inning opened with the teams still tied at 11. That’s when Bonners Ferry had their next big inning of the game, scoring eight runs. Kimberly could only tally a single run, resulting in the 19-12 final score for the game.

Mason Eby was Bonners Ferry’s starting pitcher. He gave up eleven runs; Chris Sabin took over the mound part way into the fifth inning, allowing one run over two innings. Shayne Walker took over pitching duties at the end of the seventh inning, getting the final out of the game.

Bonners Ferry had a total of 19 hits in the game, including a first inning home run by Sabin. Seth Bateman had four hits. Three Badgers racked up three RBIs in the game: Brady Bateman, Chris Sabin, and Shayne Walker.

In tomorrow’s game for the state championship, Bonners Ferry will play Homedale, who defeated Marsh Valley 14-9 to earn their way into the title game. The game will be played tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. Bonners Ferry time, and can be seen on idahosports.com.
