The Bonners Ferry Badgers Baseball team
dominated the Intermountain League All League
selection with six players being recognized.
Senior Brady Bateman took home the prestigious
All-League MVP award.
Brady Bateman (Senior) is a
four year starter for the varsity team and
batted .484 in league. He led the team during
league in RBI’s (16), hits (15), and was second
in runs scored (13). He had a 2-0 pitching
record and caught all runners attempting to
steal while playing his primary position as
catcher.
Chris Sabin (Senior) is also a
four year starter for the varsity team and
batted .435 in league. Sabin led the team in OBP
(on base percentage) .639 and walks/hit by
pitches with 13. He had a 1-0 pitching record
and held down the shortstop position for the
Badgers. Sabin hit his only high school home run
last week to secure the Badgers fourth
consecutive IML League Title.
Shayne Walker (Senior) is a two
time All-League selection and led the team
during league play in batting with a .500
average. He was second in RBI’s with 14 and
first in runs scored with 14. Walker had a 1-0
record in IML play as pitcher beating Timberlake
while striking out 10.
Will Parr (Senior) was 2-1 with
one no decision on the mound in League for the
Badgers and secured their 6th District Title. He
batted .360 and played third base when not
pitching. Parr struck out 24 while walking only
6 in 14 innings. Parr was a great addition to
the team this year and looks to play College
baseball next year in Texas.
Seth Bateman (Junior) is a
three year starter for the Badgers and this is
his second All-League award. Seth was solid at
second base and was the 2nd hitter in the
lineup. He was 3rd in team hits and only struck
out 2 times in league play.
Mason Eby (Senior) received his
first All-League selection this year while
pitching phenomenal for the Badgers. Eby did not
give up a single run during the entire year. Eby
had a 2 – 0 record while striking out 14 and
walking only 3 batters in 13 innings. He was
credited with coming in in extra innings to
secure the 4th consecutive League title for the
Badgers.
NewsBF Special Note: This
article, written by BFHS Varsity Baseball Head
Coach, omitted one important detail in this list
of All-League selections. Named as Intermountain
League Coach of the Year: Tom Turpin,
Bonners Ferry High School Head Coach. We
appreciate Coach Turpin's humility in omitting
that detail, we also appreciate the great work
he has done for many years with Badger Baseball,
and his top-caliber coaching that led other IML
coaches to vote him this recognition.
