Badgers defeat Timberlake to win IML title
in a game that lasted two days |
May 2, 2018 |
That's right. Here's how it went down: Bonners
Ferry and Timberlake were tied for first place
going into this game, the last of the season.
The winner earns first place in League, and gets
first seed in the upcoming District Tournament.
The game started yesterday, May 1. Both teams
played strong. Going into the seventh and final
inning, Timberlake was ahead by four runs, and
probably feeling fairly confident. However, the
Badgers smacked enough hits and got enough runs
across the plate to tie the game by the end of
the usual seven innings.
The teams were now looking at going into extra
innings to see who the champion would be, but
the game was called because of darkness. The
teams and coaches agreed to settle this on the
field the following day, so today Bonners Ferry
traveled down to Spirit Lake again, to meet the
Timberlake Tigers to play the extra innings, a
continuation of where they left off in the game
last night.
It took only two innings, and thanks to a home
run by Badger Chris Sabin, Bonners Ferry is the
2018 Intermountain League Baseball Champion.
