The 15th annual Koocanusa Fishing Derby, held
May 20-21 at Koocanusa Resort and Marina, Libby,
Montana, is in the books, with a total of 323
people and 120 boats hitting the water to test
their skill.
This year's winners were Shane Allen, first
place rainbow trout, 11 pounds 14 ounces, won
$1,836.80; Melanie Endicott, second place
rainbow trout, 7 pounds 12 ounces, won
$1,312.60; Denton McGlothlin, third place
rainbow trout, 7 pounds 9 ounces, won $1,049.60;
Josh Jacobs, fourth place rainbow trout, 7
pounds 5 ounces won $524.80; Than Widner,
Bonners Ferry, fifth place rainbow trout, 7
pounds 4 ounces won $314.88; and Jeff Borden
sixth place rainbow trout, 7 pounds 3 ounces won
$209.92.
In the Kokanee combined weight of up to 20 fish,
first place went to Deanna Kazemba with 4 pounds
15 ounces 4 grams, won $656; second place went
to Daisey Whitney with 4 pounds 13 ounces 2
grams, won $393.60; and third place went to
Blaine Gault with 4 pounds 13 ounces, won
$262.40.
