Badger boys open with 10-1 win, girls set to play Buhl
May 19, 2017
In Thursday's state tournament pairings, in every game where a first place district winner played a second place finisher, the second place finisher won. Such was the case with the Bonners Ferry Badgers baseball team, where the Badgers, who finished second in the District 1 Tournament, defeated District 6 first place team Teton by a score of 10-1.

Such was also the case with our District 1 first place team, Timberlake, who lost to the District 6 second place team Sugar-Salem, by a score of 6-0.

The Badgers' 10 runs were the highest scored by any team in the State 3A Tournament. The Badgers' mine-run margin of victory was the highest of any team in the State 3A Tournament.

Today, Bonners Ferry faces Payette, the second place finisher in District 3. They defeated District 4's first place Kimberly 7-3 to advance to the game with the Badgers. That game will be played at 3 p.m. Bonners Ferry time.

The winner of the Bonners Ferry vs. Payette game will advance to the championship game.

The Badger Girls' Softball team begins its run today, where they play in the first game of the tournament at 9 a.m. against Buhl at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon. Timberlake takes on Filer at 11 a.m.
