The Idaho Fish and Game Commission is coming to Bonners Ferry next week for their three-day quarterly meeting, providing local residents the opportunity to weigh in on issues of importance.

The meeting begins at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the Kootenai River Inn with new commissioner orientation, followed by a discussion on legal issues with Idaho Deputy Attorney General Kathleen Trever.

There will be a review of the IDFG Strategic Plan, a review of current fish and wildlife issues, a discussion of their business plan and a wildlife summit update.

At 7 p.m. the floor will be open in a public hearing, during which interested members of the public can discuss any topic related to the department.

Incoming IDFG chair Randy Budge.
The commissioner's day will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday at the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge, 287 Westside Road, with outgoing commission chair Tony McDermott, Sagle, being recognized for his contributions. Following routine business, such as reading of past minutes and a financial report, incoming chairman Randy Budge, Pocatello, will conduct a review of the public comments from Wednesday evening.

Afterwards, a series of discussions will be held; wildlife nonbiological rules, governor's wildlife partnership tag rules, mentor hunt rules, expenditure of animal damage control funds, nonresident deer and elk tag quotas and much more.
