Adam Hall competes at 2012 Olympic trials

 Every
wrestler dreams of the Olympics, including Adam
Hall, former Bonners Ferry Badger and current
assistant wrestling coach at Columbia
University. Hall, the son of Roland and Linda
Hall, Bonners Ferry, competed in the 2012 Olympic
Trials in Iowa City in an effort to represent
the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics in
London.
Hall, who was a former two-time NCAA
All-American and PAC-10 champion at Boise State
from 2006-2007 through 2010-2011, competed in
the men’s freestyle 66 kg (145.5 lb) division.
Representing the New York Athletic Club, Hall
finished in the top six and posted a 3-2 record.
After losing his first match to Chase Pami
(Sunkist Kids/Team OTC), 2-0, 3-0, Hall fought
his way back in the consolation bracket by
beating Jordan Oliver (Gator Wrestling Club)
1-0, 1-1, Phillip Simpson (Army/Team OTC), 4-3,
2-1, and Zack Bailey (Victory Wrestling) 1-0,
0-1, 1-0.
To advance to the third-place bout, Hall had to
face Josh Churella (NYAC/Cliff Keen Wrestling)
but came up short in a 2-0, 2-0 decision in
favor of his opponent.
"Adam wrestled really well at the Olympic
Trials," said head wrestling coach Carl
Fronhofer. "Columbia wrestling is very proud of
his accomplishments this year and we look
forward to his continued success on the
international stage. Having Adam in the room
working out with our guys while he continues to
pursue his Olympic dream has been invaluable to
the growth of our student-athletes and our
wrestling program."
As one of the youngest competitors at 66 kg,
Hall was optimistic as he was leaving
Carver-Hawkeye Arena —“I’m looking forward to
the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro,” he
said.
