March 13, 2011

Ashley Lauren Mills and Cody Jack Gladney, both of Little Elm, Texas, were married Saturday, Aug. 28, at Briscoe Manor in Richmond, Texas. Dr. Thomas J. Pace of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mills of Sugar Land. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl Russell of Sugar Land, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Mills.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gladney of Amarillo. Grandparents are Faye Gladney of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, the late Jack Gladney, Gene Smith of Newcastle, Okla., and the late Mary Smith.

Maid of honor was Alli Wadley. Bridal attendants were Lauren Burgess, Lauren Guillen, Shelley Gray, Ashley Meyka, Lauren Caldwell, Lauren Giles and Candi Mills, sister-in-law of the bride. Flower girl was Madelyn Batchelor.

Best man was Owen Davis. Grooms attendants were Wesley Reinart, Lee Gandy, Shannon Redwine, Tobin Redwine, Matt Anderson, Scott Aldrich and Marcus Becerra. The groom carried his grandmother's handkerchief and wore his grandfather's cuff links.

Ushers were Ryan Mill and Bren Mills, both brothers of the bride, Brad Stair, cousin of the groom, and Michael Carpenter. Scripture was read by Meredith Corte. Music for the ceremony was provided by pianist Beth McConnell and soloists Drew Essen and Allie Wadley.

The bride wore a gown designed by San Patrick of Barcelona, Spain. The strapless gown of sienna organza, featuring a sweetheart neckline and a gently ruched bodice, was intricately adorned with crystal-beaded alencon lace appliques. The mermaid silhouette was highlighted by a cascade of soft organza ruffles which extended into a dramatic tiered chapel train. To complement the gown, the bride chose a cathedral length veil of silk illusion edged in seed pearls and Swarovski crystals designed by Edward Berger. Teal satin heels trimmed with rhinestones completed her attire. She wore a diamond and pearl necklace, a gift from the groom. She wore her great-great-great-grandmother's brooch and carried her great-grandmother's blue handkerchief.

The bride chose stargazers, pink hydrangeas and stephanotis with crystals for her bridal bouquet.
Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a dinner reception at the Briscoe Manor. During the reception, the couple honored their guests with a 20-minute fireworks display followed by the singing of the Aggie War Hymn.

The bride is a 2005 graduate of Clements High School in Sugar Land. She graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from Texas A&M University in College Station, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She is employed by Fed Ex sales in Irving.

The groom is a 2002 graduated of Tascosa High School in Amarillo. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science and in 2008 with a Master of Science degree in animal breeding and genetics.
