Frank Phillip "Phil" Prescott, 88, died
peacefully Thursday, December 7, 2017, at the
Hospice House in Auburn, Washington.
Phil was born in Lewiston on July 10, 1929, a
son of Ronald and Hazel (Philbrook) Prescott. He
grew up in Monmouth, Oregon, attended Monmouth
schools and graduated from Monmouth Academy.
He married Ruth Elaine Hill on August 17, 1947,
and for many of their nearly 67 years of married
life they joyfully engaged in outdoor activities
of all kinds, in all seasons. Indeed, Phil’s
unquenchable curiosity, his creativity, his
generous camaraderie and his undying spirit of
adventure resulted in countless interesting,
fun-filled and memorable outings for his family,
friends and anyone lucky enough to be invited
along for the ride.
Phil loved coaching Monmouth Little League when
his children were young and he was a proud
member of the Knights of Pythias. He worked for
many years as a die maker and then foreman at
the Auburn Die Company. After he retired, his
metal-working skills, combined with Ruthie’ s
excellent help and “eyeballing” ability, were
put to good, artistic use, fashioning (to scale)
several families of rebar animals — that still
stand in front of his Blue Road home.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ruth, who
passed away in 2014, Phil was predeceased by
brothers, Carl and David Prescott, and sister
Betty Prescott Hodsdon.
Phil is survived by children Dennis Prescott,
Tallahassee, Florida, Melodie Prescott Greene,
Calais, Maine, and Victor Prescott, Bonners
Ferry. Surviving siblings include Allan
Prescott, Diane Prescott and Jane Prescott
Pinkham, all from Monmouth. He is also survived
by four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
and many loving nieces and nephews.
