Gordon Richard (Dick) Platts severed his earthly
bonds on March 2, 2017, to join in a celebration
with our Dad and Mom surrounded by his Bonanza,
Oregon, family. A celebration of Dick’s life
will be held June 27 at his home in Bonanza,
Oregon.
Dick was born February 18, 1940, in Minidoka
County, Idaho, to Jesse L. And Margaret Platts.
When Dick was an infant, the family moved to
Bonners Ferry. Dick grew up in Bonners and
attended Southside Grade School, Valley View
Grade School, and Bonners Ferry High School.
In 1958, Dick joined the U.S. Army. He took
basic training at Fort Ord, California, near
Monterey. He also served at Fort Devins,
Massachusetts, and Fort Dix, New Jersey before
shipping off to Korea as part of the ASA.
Dick was a true lover of animals of any kind but
he was especially fond of horses and dogs. He
was never very from his pets and his pets loved
him back.
Dick is survived by his wife Barbara,
brother-in-law Michael and children Jess Platts
(Kathy) and Jill Platts Hughes. He is also
survived by Barbara’s children. Dick has
numerous grandchildren also. Dick is also
survived by his sister Carol Platts and brothers
Lyle, Bill, Bob, and John Platts. |
