Our beloved Wife and Mother Joyce Ellen Johnson
passed away in her sleep New Years Day 2017 at
her family home in Porthill. Services will be
held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at Mt. Hall
Church, with a potluck following.
Joyce was born on July 4, 1936, in Bonners Ferry
to Demond and Beulah Stich Wood.
Joyce spend her childhood on her family farm in
Porthill, and she attended school at Porthill
and Mt. Hall schools, then later attended high
school in Bonners Ferry.
Joyce meet and then married Charles Punk Johnson
December 20, 1953, in Porthill. They lived for a
time in the Cocoalla area, where Punk's family
was from. After some years they moved back to
the family farm in Porthill.
Joyce worked for years driving school bus for
the Boundary County School District, and she
helped Punk on the farm with the cattle, the
farming, and cooking for the hay crew. In the
evenings she tended bar for years and waited
tables. She always had a big garden and canned
every year.
She loved her flowers, she always planted lots
of flowers every spring. She was a 4-H leader
for many years in Boundary County. She loved to
fish, pick mushrooms and huckleberries and she
hunted for years. Joyce was on the Hall Mountain
Auxiliary, and she also donated the property to
the fire department for the new fire hall in the
Porthill area.
Joyce was proceed in death by her parents,
Demond And Beulah Wood.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Punk
Johnson, son Donald Johnson (Jolene), and
daughter Barbara (Rick) Henslee, all of
Porthill. She has five grandsons and five great
grand children
Bonners Ferry Funeral Home has been entrusted
with the care of final arrangements. |
