Cheryl Jean Adkison, 72, Bonners Ferry, passed
away on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at the Life
Care Center in Sandpoint. A celebration of life
gathering for family and friends will be held in
Port Townsend, Washington, near her birthday in
July, 2017.
Cherry is remembered for her humor, faith,
spirit of service, and deep care for all those
around her.
Cherry was born in Spokane on July 19, 1944, to
Thomas and Bonnie Adkison. After graduating from
Lewis and Clark High School, Cherry spent time
traveling in Europe.
\
Upon returning to the United States, Bremerton,
Washington, became home while she pursued a
degree in the medical field. Upon graduating,
she took a job at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in
Baltimore, Maryland.
Her love for the Pacific Northwest soon called
her back and Seattle became home. It was there
that she met Larry “Jake” Jacobson, husband of
17 years and father of her two children,
Trillany and Brodie.
They settled in Port Townsend, Washington, to
raise their family. Cherry was an active member
of the Port Townsend Seventh Day Adventist
Church and cultivated many wonderful friendships
in the community. She carried that tradition
with her when she moved to Bonners Ferry in
1998.
Hobbies such as gardening, knitting, and
crocheting provided her pleasure, but being a
grandmother to her two granddaughters brought
her joy.
Cherry is survived by her son Brodie Jacobson of
Sandpoint, daughter Trillany and son-in-law
Marty James Solomon of Tampa, Florida,
grand-daughters Elise and Adrienne Gammage of
Tampa, Florida, brother Drexel Reed Adkison of
Vashon Island, Washington, and her sisters Sarah
Lynn Adkison of Eugene, Oregon, and Kristen
Hattie Goodman of Sandpoint. She is preceded in
death by her parents and her brother, Craig
Loyal Adkison. |
